Bitdefender Threat Scanner Review

Bitdefender is an excellent Mac antivirus program. It has a high level of malware detection as well as a variety of useful security features. The program does not come without problems.

The default suite’s interface is simple to navigate, and it has features into three categories: Security Utilities, Privacy, and Protection. The Protection tab is mostly devoted to the kind of features you’d expect from an antivirus suite, including real time scanning, firewall monitoring and ransomware countermeasures. The Privacy tab discusses ways to be secure on the internet, such as an encrypted web browser that runs websites inside the sandbox, to prevent malware from infecting your regular browser. And the Utilities tab is a place to find optimization tools as well as a file shredder that overwrites files with exclusive algorithms and renders them unrecoverable if they are deleted.

Other features are also available on premium plans, such as a handy password manager and a solution called Anti-Tracker which can block excessive tracking performed by a number of web-based services. The program includes a vulnerability scanner that can detect obsolete applications and passwords that are not secure, or Windows updates that aren’t applied. It also offers a quick custom scan which only takes five minutes and is faster than competitors like Norton and TotalAV.

The only downside of the application is that it takes a long time to install and is a source of frustration for users who want to begin. Additionally the application’s « Reveal in Finder » option isn’t working this is a bizarre decision for an antivirus software that competes with other products that can accomplish exactly the same thing in only few clicks.
